Osmington Bay 2018 Trip

We are pleased to say that the children arrived safely at Osmington Bay and are now fully engrossed in their activities. Don’t forget to check the blog from time to time to see what they have been up to!

After School Rounders Club

Don’t forget – our new after school Rounders Club starts on Monday 21st May at 3.15pm. Children must have opted to attend using the Summer clubs sign up sheets.

Walk to School Walk 21-25 May

Northern Federation is supporting Walk to School Walk, 21-25 May 2018. This is a great opportunity for parents to walk with their children, learn about road safety and the environment.  We do realise that some families do not live close enough to walk to school but remember you can still park and stride ie. park safely away from school and walk the remaining distance in.

Year 3&4 Fathers’ Day Assembly

Come and join us for our Year 3 and 4 Fathers’ Day Assembly.  Starting at 0905 on Friday 15th June 2018, the children will share poems and sing songs in celebration. Dads, Step-dads, Grandads, Uncles – you are all welcome!  See you there.

Maths Open Classrooms: 22 March

Please come and join us in class between 0905-1005 on Thursday 22nd March for our Maths Open Classroom sessions.  Why not join your child/ren and work alongside them to see how they tackle their learning.  No need to stay for the full hour; if you can only make 10mins then you are still welcome to visit.  See you there!

Having taken account of the most recent weather warnings, now at amber level, and having assessed Richmond Rise we believe that in order to ensure the safety of our children, parents and staff, the Federation will remain closed tomorrow.  We will aim to reopen on Monday 5th March.  We hope that all our families enjoy this additional snow day.

Please note that the federation will be closed on Thursday 1st March due to the amber weather warning. As parents will understand, the position of the schools on a steep hill means that ice and snow could put the safety of children, parents and staff at risk. We will contact parents with a decision about Friday 2nd March as soon as possible. We hope that our children enjoy the snow day!

Book Week

We’ve had such a wonderful week in Oz, skipping down the yellow brick road and helping the lion find courage, scarecrow to find knowledge and the tin man to find a heart. We opened our doors to bedtime stories, complete with hot chocolate and again for breakfast to share a book. We loved every moment!

Then we all took part in a fantastic dressing-up day, all themed to the Wizard of Oz!

Service Families

The Department for Education introduced the Service Pupil Premium in April 2011 in recognition of the specific challenges children from service families face.

Schools which have service children can receive additional funding to help support them, particularly at times of mobility or deployment.

At Northern Schools one of the ways in which we use this funding is to provide emotional literacy support (ELSA) for individuals and groups of children, and a special ‘Forces Club’.

If you believe that you qualify as a ‘service family’, and we may not be aware, please let the school office know as this additional funding really does make a difference to our children.

Welcome to our New Librarians

We would like to welcome to our Federation, both Mrs Hawley and Mrs Gammon as our new librarians.  We look forward to utilising their passion for reading and children’s books to help in developing our library spaces.
